Somatic Dance - A Movement Practice

Let's Bring Our Awareness All the Way into the Body

Why We Dance

In a world that often pulls us into our heads, dance brings us home; back into the living, breathing presence of our bodies. Movement reminds us that we are not separate from life unfolding; we are life, in motion.

The Value of Returning to the Body

Our bodies are how we experience the world; how we love, grieve, create, and connect. When we inhabit them fully, we open to the richness of being alive. Through dance, we listen to the language of sensation, emotion, and energy moving through us. Every gesture, every breath, becomes an invitation to come closer to ourselves.

Here, all of you is welcome; the soft, the strong, the uncertain, the wild. This is a space for presence, not performance; for authenticity, not perfection.

What the Practice Is

Somatic dance is a guided, freeform movement journey.  There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn. Instead, you’re invited to explore how your body wants to move in each moment; through stillness, rhythm, release, and play. Music is specifically curated to support different types of movement.

We return, again and again, to the simple, sacred experience of being fully alive.

We create this dance together through deep listening to our whole selves – beyond the mind, tapping into the heart and soul of what it is to be human. We practice tracking our sensations, connecting our movements with our breath and shaking out what is no longer needed. What is left after we are cleaner, is the tug on our hearts pulling us into our lives and connecting us with the wisdom of our bodies.
